About This Cause

Three-year-old Varsha should have been running around her village, playing in the fields and laughing in her mother’s arms. Instead, she is fighting an aggressive eye cancer that has pushed her family to the streets of Delhi. In May 2025, Varsha was diagnosed with cancer in her left eye. What began as small changes in her eye quickly turned into something life-threatening. Doctors later confirmed that she is suffering from Retinoblastoma, and today, she is in Stage 3 of the disease.

Her family comes from a far-flung village in Bihar, where there are no facilities to treat such a serious illness. With no options left, her parents rushed to AIIMS Delhi — carrying their daughter in their arms and fear in their hearts. For the past 7–8 months, this family has not lived in a home.

They sleep in night shelters. Some days, they rest on the roadside. Their days are spent in hospital corridors, waiting for chemotherapy sessions. All this, just to save their little girl.

“She cries and holds her eye… I feel helpless as a mother.”

“Before all this, she was very playful. Now she gets tired quickly. She cries during chemotherapy and clings to me tightly. I cannot even explain to her why this pain is necessary.”
Varsha’s Mother

Chemotherapy has made Varsha weak. She struggles to eat. She feels nauseous. Her tiny body is trying to fight a battle it does not understand. But the emotional and financial pain her parents are going through is equally unbearable. Her Father Lost His Job to Stay by her Side. Varsha’s father is a daily wage labourer. When they first came to Delhi, he tried to travel back and forth to Bihar for work. But it became impossible.

Eventually, he lost his job. Now, the family has no stable source of income. They have chosen to live on the streets of Delhi so their daughter can continue her treatment at AIIMS. While AIIMS provides subsidized treatment, the family has been asked to arrange money for medicines, blood tests, CT scans, and other investigations. The estimated expense is ₹60,000 to ₹70,000. There are days when they cannot afford even a simple blood test. Sometimes, important scans are delayed because they do not have the money.

They Left Everything Behind to Save Her. Imagine parents who left their home, their village, their livelihood — and now sleep in night shelters — just to keep their child alive.

They are not asking for comfort. They are not asking for a home.

They are only asking for help to save their daughter.

Without timely treatment, Varsha’s cancer can worsen and become fatal.

We urgently request you to come forward and support little Varsha’s treatment. Your contribution — big or small — can help cover her medicines and critical tests so that her chemotherapy continues without interruption.

Let us not allow poverty to decide whether a 3-year-old lives or loses her fight.

Your kindness can help Varsha defeat cancer and return home healthy. ❤️
