One-and-a-half-year-old Hridaay should have been learning to walk, speak, and enjoy a carefree childhood. Instead, this little boy is fighting a painful battle against West Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes severe epileptic spasms and affects brain development.
Hridaay was initially undergoing treatment at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital. But when he was only four months old, his parents noticed repeated fits and sudden body spasms that kept getting worse with time. The frightening seizures forced his family to rush him to Apollo Hospitals, where doctors immediately began treatment and advised therapies along with a strict ketogenic diet to control the spasms.
Doctors have given the family a ray of hope. According to the treating team, if the ketogenic diet works, Hridaay’s seizures can stop and his brain development can gradually become normal, allowing him to live a healthy life. But if the treatment fails, the child may have to undergo a risky brain surgery that could be life-threatening for someone so young.
Hridaay’s father, Manoj, works as a Rapido driver and struggles every day to provide for his family. Despite working tirelessly, the mounting cost of treatment, therapies, medicines, and the specialized diet has pushed the family into severe financial distress. The family is somehow trying to arrange most of the expenses on their own, but they are still falling short of ₹60,000 urgently needed for Hridaay’s treatment.
For Manoj, every seizure feels like watching his son slip further away. Yet he continues to fight with hope that one day Hridaay will live like every other child — free from pain and fear.
Your support can help this little warrior continue his treatment and move closer to a healthy future. Even a small contribution can bring hope to Hridaay and his struggling family.
